Horror Dance
Many of you know my most excellent wife and partner in crime Emily. Among the many exciting collaborators she has met in her time at UMD are Betty Skeen and Tzveta Kassabova. She will be performing with them this weekend at Dance Place in D.C. Want to see some seriously cool postmodern dance? Look no further:
Saturday at 8pm
Sunday at 4pm.
Emily performed in Betty’s thesis concert last winter. (Betty graduated in 2010 from the same program Emily is in.) Betty is the first person I ever heard describe her work as “Horror Dance.” And there is something seriously creepy (and beautiful) about her choreography…
We went last weekend to see Betty and Tzveta perform in Sara Pearson and Patrik Widrig’s piece, Drama. It was one of the most moving and intense and just plain well-crafted works I have seen lately. Tzveta and Betty were amazing, and I for one am eagerly anticipating getting to see them perform again. And of course my fabulous wife. Lydia and I are going with bells on. See you there.
